This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the seventh generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & possibly
also the revised 2015) Dodge Charger sedan in changing a burnt out
map light bulb in the overhead console. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Grand Caravan, Ram C/V Tradesman and 1500 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement map light bulb is part number 168 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA. If necessary, you may also be able to use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as # 158 (dimmer), W5W, 2825 or 194 (brighter) or a compatible LED unit. The only tool needed to replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the translucent plastic lens cover. |

To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth. Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the front edge of the lens cover and the housing. Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place. Carefully push the old bulb out of the socket with the screwdriver. |
