Rotate Old Blade Away
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 3rd generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and maybe also the revised 2017 model year) Ford Escape SUV in changing the front windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Ford or Lincoln vehicles such as the Focus, Fusion, C-Max, Mustang, Fiesta, Transit Connect, Edge, Flex, Explorer, Expedition, Taurus, F-150, EcoSport, MKC, MKZ, MKS, MKX, MKT and the Navigator may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 28" and Passenger Side 28".

A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch 28-CA, Trico 18-280, Rain-X 5079282-1, Michelin 8528, Motorcraft WW-2801-PF, Anco A-28-M and Trico 25-280.

Lift Out Mounting Bracket
The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself.

Then rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle.

Locate the two ridged "V" shaped tabs that resemble insect wings.

Gently squeeze together the two "V" tabs and lift the wiper blade mounting bracket away from the wiper arm.

Line Up Hole & Metal Hook
Continue rotating the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm.

Pull the old wiper blade off the small metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Place a towel on the window to protect the windshield from being cracked, shattered, chipped or scratched just in case the wiper arm smacks down on to the glass while you are replacing the wiper blade.

I always buy the Bosch 28-CA wiper blades since they have the best reviews on Amazon and always seem to last a long time.

Line up the opening at the top of the new wiper blade with the small metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Lower Blade To Window
Attach the new wiper blade to the metal hook and then rotate it towards the wiper arm.

Squeeze together the two "V" shaped tabs and insert them in to the wiper arm mounting bracket.

Double check that the new wiper blade is securely attached to the wiper arm.

Gently lower the wiper arm down to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning off the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X or Zaino Bros Glass Polish.
