This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and probably
also the refreshed 2019 & 2020 model years) Nissan Murano SUV in
taking off the plastic interior door panels in order to upgrade the
OEM speakers, add soundproofing material, fix a faulty electrical
switch or replace a broken power window motor. Owners of other Nissan and Infiniti vehicles such as the Rogue, Pathfinder, Armada, Versa, Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Leaf, 370Z, GT-R, Frontier, Titan, NV200, Q50, Q70, Q60, QX30, QX50, QX60, QX70 and QX80 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The tools needed to remove the door panel include a small plastic pry bar tool, a flathead screwdriver, a 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet. The OEM door speaker can be removed with a 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet or a Phillips head screwdriver. |

Switch Panel Removed |
The first two steps
are to lower the power window all the way down and then fully open the door. Use a plastic pry bar tool to gently pry off the sail panel located at the top inner corner of the door panel. On some models, the sail panel may contain a tweeter speaker that will need to be disconnected. Then gently pry up the rear edge of the switch panel and the side of the switch panel until it can be fully removed. Do NOT pry up the front of the switch panel. There is a plastic hook at the front of the switch panel. Lift out the switch panel and turn it over to access the electrical connector. |

Set the two screws
next to their corresponding trim cover so you don't mix them up later on. At this point, you should have removed four plastic panels or covers, one bolt and two screws. Insert the plastic pry bar tool in between the bottom edge of the door panel and the metal door frame. Firmly pull out the pop rivet friction fasteners all along the bottom edge and both sides of the door panel. |

The OEM door

The speaker is held in place by three screws that can be removed with either a 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet or a Phillips head screwdriver. Loosen Counterclockwise |
Hold Door Panel Near Frame |
Metal Ball Into Socket |
Loosen the three
screws on the OEM speaker by turning them in the counterclockwise direction. For the best possible sound from your new speakers, I recommend applying some Dynamat sound deadener to the metal door frame to help stop vibrations and rattles when you crank up the volume. To replace the plastic door panel, hold it near the door frame and tilt away the top edge. Lower the metal ball at the end of the door opener handle cable into the lower socket on the back side of the door panel. |
||
