This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and probably
also the face lifted 2019 & 2020 model years) Nissan Murano SUV in
changing a burnt out rear turn signal or side marker light bulb in
the tail light housings. Owners of other Nissan and Infiniti vehicles such as the Rogue, Pathfinder, Armada, Versa, Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Leaf, 370Z, GT-R, Frontier, Titan, NV200, Q50, Q70, Q60, QX30, QX50, QX60, QX70 and QX80 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Rear Turn Signal # 7440A (also 7740NA or WY21W) and Side Marker # 2825 (or W5W). The tools needed to remove the tail light assembly and access the bulb sockets include a plastic pry bar tool, a 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet. |

Two Bolts Exposed |
The first two steps
are to open the tailgate door for the cargo area and then move to the side
of the SUV with the burnt out tail light bulb. (If you only need to change the reverse light which is located in a separate housing attached to the tailgate door, please check out my 2015-2018 Nissan Murano Reverse Light Bulb Replacement Guide.) Locate the black plastic trim cover on the inner edge of the tail light housing. Use the plastic pry bar tool to gently pry off the trim piece. Set the trim cover aside in a safe place. |

Release Two Fasteners |
Pull Off Tail Light Housing |
Access Bulb Sockets |
Gently pry along
the outer edge of the tail light housing to release the two fasteners. Please be sure to take a look at the pictures above to see how the friction fasteners are situated on the tail light housing. Try to avoid using excessive force. The friction fasteners should pop out relatively easily. Turn over the tail light assembly to access the bulb sockets. |

Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
The brake lights
are LED bulbs that should last the life time of the vehicle. The larger grey plastic socket contains the rear turn signal bulb. If you would like to have brighter rear side marker lights, install some compatible 2825 LED bulbs.
