This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2016, 2017, 2018 and the refreshed 2019 and 2020 model years) Hyundai Tucson SUV in changing a burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console or upgrading them both to brighter LED units.

Owners of other Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles such as the Santa Fe, Kona, Elantra, Sonata, Accent, Veloster, Ioniq, Nexo, G80, G90, Stinger, Rio, Forte, Optima, Cadenza, K900, Soul, Niro, Sportage, Sorento and Sedona may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb is Hyundai / Kia part number 1864310009N or 18643-10009-N (the bulb is also known as Toshiba part # W10W).

You may also be able to use the similar Satco S4553.

The only tool needed to access and replace the bulbs is a small plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you can either cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic pry bar tool.

Insert the blade of your tool in between the front inner edge of the lens cover and the overhead console.

Gently pry out the translucent plastic lens cover.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily.

There are two plastic tabs on the outer edge of the lens cover.

Set the lens cover aside in a safe place.

Gently Pull Out Old Light Bulb
If the old light bulb was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

I found it easiest to use the plastic pry bar tool to help me get a grip on the old bulb.

Empty Bulb Socket
The OEM light bulb was marked as a Toshiba W10W.

I found that the bulb is available on Amazon as Hyundai part number 1864310009N. It is sometimes also referred to as part number 18643-10009-N.

If you would like to upgrade the map lights to brighter LED bulbs, I believe that any of the miniature wedge base light bulbs such as the 2825 LED should fit in the socket.
