Courtesy Step Light Bulb Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out courtesy step
light bulb in the door panels of a 1st generation 2001 to 2006 Acura MDX SUV.

| This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically created to assist
owners of the first generation (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006)
Acura MDX in changing a burnt out courtesy step light bulb located
in a housing attached to the bottom of the plastic interior door
panels. Owners of other Acura or Honda vehicles such as the RDX, ILX, TLX, RLX, TL, CL, RSX, RL, TSX, ZDX, NSX, Integra, Pilot, Accord, Civic, Fit, Clarity, CR-V, CR-Z, HR-V, Odyssey, Element and Ridgeline may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb is part number 194. You can also use a brighter LED unit. The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. |

| To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a small plastic
pry bar tool. Insert the blade of the screwdriver in between the bottom edge of the lens cover and the door panel. Gently pry out the lens cover. Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily. Set the lens cover aside in a safe place. If the old light bulb is still on or was recently illuminated, be careful when you remove it. It may be hot enough to burn your fingers. Use a towel to pull out the old light bulb and protect your skin from being burned by the hot bulb. |

| If you would like
to have brighter courtesy step lights, install a compatible
194 LED bulb. Push a new number 194 light bulb straight into the socket. |

 Test New Step Light Bulb |
| Line up the lens
cover with the two plastic tabs on the top and the single plastic tab
situated on the bottom of the cover. Gently snap the lens cover back into place. If the new light bulb didn't turn on as soon as you pushed it into the socket, activate the interior lights by pressing the "Unlock" button on the key fob.
