This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically created to assist owners of the first generation (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006) Acura MDX in changing a burnt out fog light bulb located in the housing attached to the front bumper cover just below the headlight assemblies.

Owners of other Acura or Honda vehicles such as the RDX, ILX, TLX, RLX, TL, CL, RSX, RL, TSX, ZDX, NSX, Integra, Pilot, Accord, Civic, Fit, Clarity, CR-V, CR-Z, HR-V, Odyssey, Element  and Ridgeline may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement halogen fog light bulb part number is 9006 (also known as HB4).

No tools are needed to access and replace the bulbs on either the driver or passenger side of the SUV.

The OEM bulb in this 2006 MDX Touring was part number Sylvania 9006 HB4 12V 51W.

If you'd like to have brighter fog lights, install some compatible 9006 LED bulbs.

1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock
Avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay.

Grease or oil on the bulb may cause a hot spot, shorten its useful life and possibly cause the bulb to shatter.

If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol.

Insert a new number 9006 bulb into the housing.

Rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

To test the new fog lights, first turn on the headlights and then press the "On/Off" switch for the fog lights located below the driver's A/C vent and next to the VSA OFF and CRUISE switches.

Be sure to record the bulb change in your SUV's service records.
