This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Chrysler 200 sedan in changing a burnt out cargo area light bulb in the trunk.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or RAM vehicles with similar key fobs such as the Avenger, 300, Town & Country, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, Patriot, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass, 1500, 2500, 3500, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement "rigid loop base" type light bulb is part number 562 which is available from manufacturers such as Sylvania, ACDelco, GE, PIAA and Eiko.

If you would like to have a brighter trunk light, install a compatible replacement 562 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to change the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool used to pry out the light housing.

Pull back the carpeted trunk liner and locate the small notch on the right side of the bulb housing.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch on the right side of the trunk light bulb housing and gently pry it out from the metal body panel.

Press the release button on the white plastic power connector and slide it straight out of its socket.

If the OEM bulb was working, let it cool down for at least a few minutes.

Insert New # 562 Bulb
Pull the old bulb out of the socket.

Insert a new # 562 rigid loop base in to the socket.

I'd recommend using the Sylvania 562 LL long life light bulbs since they tend to last for years.

Re-Insert Wires First
Push the power plug straight in to it's socket.

The new bulb should immediately turn on.

(Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around 180 degrees in the socket.)

Re-insert the wires on the housing in to the left side of the opening in the body panel first.

Then gently snap in the right side of the housing.
