Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park, once destined to be a residential condominium complex, is located on the northern tip of Key Largo.

The park features the largest tract of West Indian tropical hardwood hammock in the USA and is home to 84 protected species of plants and animals.

Visitors are welcome at Dagny Johnson from 8:30 AM to sundown every day of the year. There is an "honor box" near the entrance of the park where you can deposit a fee of $2.50 per person.

To reach Dagny Johnson Park, continue about a 1/4 mile North on CR 905 after the intersection with Overseas Highway.

Be sure to bring some water and a camera while you explore the park's six miles of trails filled with birds and flowers.

Some of the rare species of plants and animals that can be seen in the Dagny Johnson Park include the Schaus Swallowtail butterfly, mangrove skippers, tree snails, wild cotton, mahogany mistletoe, mangrove cuckoo, white crowned pigeon, black whiskered vireo, La Sagra's flycatchers and the thick billed vireo.
