Headlight Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out low beam, high
beam, turn signal or side marker light bulb in a 2011 to 2014 Dodge Avenger.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the refreshed (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014) Dodge Avenger
sedan in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam, turn signal or
front side marker light bulbs in the headlight assemblies. Owners of other Chrysler Group vehicles with similar headlight housings such as the Dart, Challenger, Durango, Charger, Grand Caravan, 200, 300, RAM C/V Tradesman, Jeep Patriot, Compass and Cherokee may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement bulbs with their part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # 9006, High Beam # 9005, Turn Signal # 3457A (also 3357A or 3457AK and Front Side Marker # 2827 or WY5W. No tools are needed to replace the low beam, high beam or turn signal light bulbs. To change the side marker bulb, you'll need a 7mm socket, a ratcheting wrench and a flathead screwdriver to remove the wheel well liner fasteners. |

The Low Beam
headlight bulbs, located near the outer edge of the vehicle, can easily be
accessed by reaching in behind the headlight assembly. Grasp the base of the old low beam bulb and rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. Pry up the retaining clips on the power connector with your fingers or a flathead screwdriver and pull the plug off the base of the old bulb. |

Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or
anything greasy in the engine bay.
If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a rubbing alcohol moistened paper towel. Push a new # 9006 low beam bulb on to the power plug. |

Locked In Place |
Insert the new low beam bulb back in to the headlight housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. | ||
High Beam - Inner Corner |

The High Beam
bulb is located near the inner edge of the headlight assembly. Reach in behind the headlight housing and rotate the base of the old high beam bulb 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out of the socket. |

Old High Beam Bulb Removed |
Gently pry off the two plastic retaining clips on the electrical connector before pulling the plug straight off the base of the old bulb. | ||

Try to avoid

The front Turn
Signal light bulb is located at the bottom of the headlight housing just
below the high beam bulb. Reach in behind the headlight assembly and rotate the black plastic turn signal light bulb socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. |

Push In New # 3457A |
Pull the old turn
signal bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new amber colored #
3457A or 3457AK. Re-insert the bulb socket in to the headlight housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Front Side Marker Light |

The Front Side
Marker light is located at the outer edge of the headlight housing. To access the side marker bulb, you'll need to go in through the wheel well liner or "splash guard". Turn the steering all the way in the opposite direction of the burnt out side marker bulb to make extra room in the wheel well. |

Remove 7mm Screws |
Pry Out Fastener |
3 Screws & 1 Pop Rivet |
Remove the three
screws along the outer edge of the black plastic wheel well liner by turning
them counter clockwise with the 7mm socket and ratcheting wrench. Then pry out the center of the black plastic pop rivet fastener with a flathead screwdriver before pulling out the larger outer piece. |

Side Marker Bulb Socket |
Pull Out Old Side Marker Bulb |
Pull back the wheel
well liner and reach in to access the side marker light bulb socket. Rotate the bulb socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the headlight housing. |

Re-Insert 1/4 Turn Clockwise |
Replace Wheel Splash Guard |
Pull the old bulb
straight out of the socket and push in a new amber colored #
2827 or WY5W
bulb. Re-insert the socket in to the headlight housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. Push the wheel well liner back in to place. |

Push In Outer Part Fastener |
Push In Inner Plastic Piece |
Replace 7mm Screws |
Push the larger
outer piece of the black plastic pop rivet fastener in to the hole just in
front of the tire. Then push in the smaller inner piece in to the center of
the fastener to lock it in place. Replace the three screws along the outer edge of the wheel well liner. Tighten them in the clockwise direction with the 7mm socket and ratcheting wrench. |

Test New Headlight Bulbs |
Test New High Beam Bulb |
Test the new light
bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazard signals and
