This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the fourth generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013) Dodge
RAM 1500 truck in changing a burnt out bulb in the rear passenger
overhead dome light housing. Owners of other Dodge, Ram Trucks, or Chrysler vehicles such as the Dart, Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, 2500, 3500, 4500, 5500, C/V Tradesman, 200, 300 and Town & Country may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement map light bulbs are either part number 194 (miniature wedge base bulbs) or part # 212-2 ("festoon" or "fuse" style bulbs) depending on your model year. The bulbs in this 2012 RAM 1500 are part # 194 mini wedge base. If you would like to have brighter map lights, choose some 194 LED bulbs. The only tool needed to change the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the lens cover. |

Insert the blade of
the small flathead screwdriver in between the edge of the translucent

Gently pry out the lens cover. Take care to not break the small plastic tab located on the rear edge of the lens cover. Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out. If you have trouble gripping the bulb, try putting on a latex glove or use a piece of duct tape on your fingers. |
