On January 8th, 2006, my girlfriend and I visited the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami Florida.

The park's address is 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables, Miami, Florida 33156.

I had seen billboards along the Palmetto expressway (also known as 826) for the Dale Chihuly hand-blown glass sculptures art exhibit.

The entrance fee to the Fairchild Botanical Gardens was $20.00 per person and well worth the price.

Dave Chihuly's glass art works were planted among the huge variety of palms, native plants, trees, vines, cycads and tropical flowers that reside year round at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens. A few times I thought a piece of blown glass sculpture was a live plant and vice versa. If you visit the Chihuly at Fairchild exhibit make sure that you bring a digital camera with a huge memory card and plenty of extra batteries because you will be snapping pictures like crazy.

We just walked around the park aimlessly but there is also a guided walking tour that will cover the Vine Pergola, Palmetum, Arboretum and the Rainforest areas of the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.

Sunlit Flower

Some of the most beautiful flowers at the Fairchild include the Lignum Vitae, the Bridal Bouquet Plumeria, and the Apostle Plant or Walking Iris. I'm not a flower expert so I can't tell you which is which, but I'm sure I have a few pictures of each one in the 150+ pictures that I took at the Fairchild garden.
