This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Ford EcoSport compact SUV in changing a burnt out vanity mirror bulb located in the light housing attached to the headliner just above the sun visor.

Owners of other Ford or Lincoln vehicles such as the Fiesta, B-Max, Escape, Edge, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Expedition, Transit, Focus, Mondeo, S-Max, Puma, Kuga, Endura, Everest, Ka, Figo, Endeavour, Aviator, Corsair, Nautilus and Navigator may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 2825 (also known as W5W) which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Toshiba, Bosch and Philips.

If you would like to have brighter vanity lights that will also last much longer before burning out like the traditional incandescent light bulbs, install some 2825 LED units.

The only needed to access and replace the bulbs is a small flat head screwdriver such as from a precision screwdriver set or a small plastic pry bar tool.

To help prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces or tearing the fabric headliner, you can either use a plastic tool or cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Locate the small notch on the right side of the lens cover on the opposite side of the "On / Off" rocker switch.

Insert the blade of your small flat head screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool into the notch.

Gently pry out the right side of the lens cover to release the plastic retaining clip.

Pull the light housing out of the plastic frame attached to the headliner.

If the old light bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it. The bulb might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket.

The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) light bulb in this 2020 EcoSport Titanium was marked as part number "W5W" which is the same as the more commonly available 2825.

Push a new number 2825 light bulb straight into the socket.

If you'd like to have brighter vanity lights, install some compatible replacement 2825 LED bulbs.

If you install LED bulbs, please be sure to test them before re-installing the light housing.

Tip - If the LED bulb doesn't work, remove it from the socket, rotate it 180 degrees and push it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation.

First, re-insert the wires and left side of the lens cover back into the opening in the ceiling.

Gently snap in the retaining clip on the right side of the light housing.
