This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the updated 6th generation (2013, 2014 and probably also the 2015 model year) Ford Taurus sedan in changing a burnt out reverse light bulb in the tail light assemblies.

Owners of other Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles with similar tail light housings such as the Fiesta, Fusion, Focus, C-Max, MKS, MKZ, Milan, Grand Marquis, Mariner and may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement reverse light bulb for the 2013, 2014 & 2015 models is part number 921.

The 2010, 2011 & 2012 models use the following bulbs: Brake # 3057, Turn Signal # 7440A and Reverse (2011-2012) # 5008 or (2010 Taurus) # 7440.

The tools needed to access the reverse bulbs include a flathead screwdriver and/or a pair of needle nose pliers.

Pull Back Trunk Lid Liner
The first step is to open the trunk lid and move to the side of the car with the burnt out reverse light bulb.

Pry out the round black plastic pop rivet friction fasteners on the grey carpeted trunk lid liner closest to the light housing either using the flathead screwdriver or the needle nose pliers.

Remove at least three of the pop rivets and then pull back the trunk lid liner.

If you would like to have brighter reverse lights, install some compatible 921 LED bulbs.

Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.
