How to change a burnt out low / high
beam, front turn signal or side marker light bulb in a 2007 to 2016 GMC Acadia.

This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first
generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) GMC
Acadia in changing a burnt out dual filament combination low / high beam
bulb, front turn signal or side marker light bulbs in the headlight
housings. Owners of other General Motors vehicles such as the Buick Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Cascada, Encore, Enclave, Envision, GMC Canyon, Sierra 1500, Terrain, Yukon, Denali, Savana, Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, Impala, Volt, Camaro, Corvette, SS, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, Silverado and Express may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The only tool needed to access and replace the bulbs is a Torx T20 star bit screwdriver. The replacement bulb part numbers are as follows: Low / High Beam Headlight # 9012, Front Turn Signal # 7444NA and Front Side Marker # 194NA. |

Loosen Counterclockwise |
Remove 2nd Screw |
3rd Wheel Well Screw |
The first step is
to turn the steering wheel all the way in the opposite direction of the
burnt out headlight bulb. Turning the front wheels will create more working room in the wheel well to access the bulbs through the wheel well liner or "splash guard". Remove the four screws that secure the outer edge of the black plastic wheel well liner in place by turning them counterclockwise with a Torx T20 star bit screwdriver. |

Remove 2nd Screw |
Then look under the
front bumper cover and locate the two screws that hold the bottom of the
wheel well liner in place. Remove the two screws by turning them counterclockwise with the Torx T-20 screwdriver. |

Pull Back Splash Guard |
Black Plastic Dust Cap |
Set the six T20
screws aside in a safe place. Gently pull back the wheel well liner to access the rear of the headlight assembly. |

Twist Off Counterclockwise |
Dust Cover Removed |
Low & High Beam Bulb |
Remove the black
plastic dust cap on the rear of the low/high beam headlight bulb housing by
rotating it 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Set the plastic dust cover aside in a safe place. Rotate the base of the old bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the socket. |

Pull Up Retaining Clip |
Power Plug Disconnected |
Gently pry back the retaining clip on the electrical connector before sliding the power plug straight off the base of the old headlight bulb. | ||

Push On Electrical Connector |
Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or
anything greasy in the wheel well area. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. Push the power plug straight on to the base of the new 9012 low/high beam headlight bulb. Re-insert the new headlight bulb in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Push In New Amber Bulb |
The Front Turn
Signal light bulb socket is located near the inner edge of the headlight
assembly. Rotate the base of the socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out. Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new amber colored number 7444NA bulb. Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. The small front side marker light bulb socket is located at the outer edge of the housing. Rotate the base 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it out. Pull out the old bulb and push in a new # 194NA bulb. Re-insert the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Replace Wheel Well Liner |
Tighten T20 Screws |
Replace the black
plastic low/high beam bulb dust cap by rotating it 1/4 turn clockwise to
secure it in place. Push the wheel well liner back in to place. Replace the four screws along the outer edge of the wheel well liner by turning them clockwise with the Torx T20 screwdriver. |

Replace Lower Screws |
Tighten T-20 Clockwise |
Test New Headlight Bulb |
Replace the two
lower screws under the front bumper cover. Test the new light bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazard signals and flashing the high beams. For more, check out my other
