"Remove" - Push To Right
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010) Honda Odyssey minivan in changing a burnt out license plate light bulb in the tailgate or upgrading them both to brighter LED units.

Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Civic, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, HR-V, Fit, Element, Insight, Pilot, Ridgeline, Clarity, Crosstour, Elysion, ILX, TSX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX, NSX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 2825 (also known as W5W).

If you would like to have brighter license plate lights, you can install some compatible 2825 LED units.

No tools are required to access and replace the light bulbs although a plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver might be useful for removing a stubborn light housing.

Passenger Side Housing
The procedure for removing the driver side or the passenger side license plate light housings are both the same.

If you look closely at the light housings, you'll see the word "Remove" with an arrow pointing to the right (passenger side) printed on the left side.

Either use your finger, a plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver to push the left side of the housing towards the right.

Gently pry out the left side of the housing.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The light housings should pop out relatively easily.

Gently remove the light housing from the underside of the tailgate door.

Squeeze together the two grey plastic tabs on the rear of the light housing to release the translucent plastic lens cover.

Pull the lens cover off and set it aside in a safe place.
