How to replace the coin cell battery in
the keyless entry remote control of a 5th generation 2011 to 2016 Hyundai Elantra.

automotive maintenance "how-to" guide was specifically written to
assist owners of the 5th generation 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 &
2016 Hyundai Elantra in replacing
the coin cell battery in the key fob remote control. Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Accent, Sonata, Azera, Veloster, Tucson, Santa Fe, Veracruz, Genesis, Forte, Optima, Rio, Soul, Sorento, Sportage, i10, i20, i30, i35, i40, Tiburon, Avante and Sedona may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement coin, "button" or "watch" type battery for the key fob is part # CR2032 from a variety of manufacturers such as Panasonic, Energizer, Sony, Duracell, Kodak, and Maxell. The only tool needed to replace the battery is a small flathead screwdriver. You can also use a butter knife or a coin. |

| Locate the notch on
the top of the key fob near the "Lock" button.
Use a flathead screwdriver, a butter knife or a coin to gently pry apart the two halves of the key fob. Be careful when opening the key fob case since the plastic buttons may fall out. Then remove the remote control unit, which is in a rubber case, from inside the plastic key fob case. Turn over the remote control unit to reveal the old CR2032 3V battery. Use the small flathead screwdriver to gently push out the old battery. |

 Insert Remote Into Case |
| Slide a new
CR2032 three volt battery into the slot with the "+" side facing up towards you and
the "-" side facing down towards the green circuit board. Place the plastic "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons in to the top half of the case. Insert the remote control unit into the top half of the key fob case with the rubber side facing towards the buttons. |

 Snap Two Halves Together |
| Then line up the
rear cover of the key fob case and snap together the two halves until they
are flush all the way around. Test the new key fob battery by standing near your Elantra and pressing the "Lock" or "Unlock" buttons until you see the parking lights flash. For more, please check out my other
