This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Kia Optima in changing a burnt out fog light bulb in the front bumper.

Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles with similar fog light bulb housings such as the Forte, Cadenza, Rio, Soul, Sedona, Sorento, Sportage, Sonata, Accent, Elantra, Veloster, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe and Genesis may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement fog light bulb is part number H8 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, Philips, PIAA, GE, Nokya and Eiko.

If you would like to have brighter fog lights, install some compatible H8 LED bulbs.

The tools required to access the bulbs include an 8mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet used to remove the wheel well liner fastener.

Pull Back Wheel Well Liner
The first step is to turn the steering wheel all the way to the opposite side of the burnt out fog light bulb to make more room to work in the wheel well area.

Then remove the one screw on the black plastic wheel well liner or "splash guard" located just in front of the front tire by turning it counter clockwise with the 8mm socket and ratcheting wrench.

Replace Plastic Splash Guard
Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the bulb dirty, wipe it clean with an alcohol moistened paper towel.

Push the electrical connector straight on to the base of the new # H8 bulb until it clicks securely in to place.

If you want brighter fog lights, choose some H8 LED bulbs.

Insert the bulb in to the fog light housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place.
