This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Kia Sorento SUV in changing a burnt out cargo area light bulb in a housing on the headliner near the tailgate door.

Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles such as the Optima, Forte, Cadenza, K900, Rio, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe, Genesis and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement festoon or "fuse" style bulb is part number DE3175 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

You can also use a brighter DE3175 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to change the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the translucent plastic lens cover.

Pull Out Old DE 3175
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch on the passenger side of the lens cover.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

If the old bulb was recently illuminated, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't turn on at first, try removing it and flipping it around in the socket.
