Gently Pry Out Lens Cover
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 1st generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013) Kia Soul in changing a burnt out overhead dome light bulb above the rear passenger seats.

Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles with similar dome light housings such as the Forte, Cadenza, Rio, Optima, Sedona, Sorento, Sportage, Sonata, Accent, Elantra, Veloster, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe and Genesis may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement "festoon" or "fuse" style bulb is part number DE3175 (31mm in length) from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, Osram, GE, PIAA and Eiko.

You may also be able to use the similar # 6418 (35mm), 6423 (36mm), 6411 (41mm) or a compatible LED festoon bulb.

The only tool needed to replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic panel pry bar tool used to remove the translucent plastic lens cover.

Pull Out Old Bulb
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to either wrap the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or use a plastic automotive panel pry tool.

Insert the blade of your small flathead screwdriver in to one of the two small notches on the front edge of the translucent plastic lens cover.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

If the old bulb was recently illuminated, be careful since it may still be hot enough to burn your skin.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Push a new # DE3175 bulb straight in to the socket.

You might also be able to use any other festoon style bulb that is close to 31mm in size such as the # 6418 (35mm), 6423 (36mm), 6411 (41mm) and DE3022 (29mm).

If you install an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around in the socket.
