This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) Kia
Sportage SUV in changing the rear windshield window wiper blade. Owners of other Kia and Hyundai SUV, minivan or hatchback vehicles such as the Forte, Rio, Sorento, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Tucson and Santa Fe may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM replacement rear wiper blade is Kia / Hyundai part number 988503W000 (also known as # AMKM0139). It is available at your Hyundai or Kia dealership parts counter. They can also be purchased on Amazon, eBay or various website retailers that specialize in Kia parts. No tools are needed to replace the rear window wiper blade. |

Lift Wiper Arm Off Window |
Rotate Blade Away From Arm |
Continue Rotating Blade |
The first step is
to gently pull off the plastic cover on the base of the wiper arm. Set the plastic cap aside in a safe place. Then lift the wiper arm off the rear window until it remains in the raised position by itself. Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm. |

Pop Mounting Bar Out of Bracket |
Mounting Bar & Two Pegs |
"C" Socket & 2 Grooves |
Continue rotating the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm until the mounting peg in the center pops out of the "C" socket. | ||

Line Up Bar & Socket |
Pop Bar In To "C" Socket |
Rotate Blade Parallel To Arm |
I recommend buying
the genuine OEM Kia / Hyundai 14" wiper blade which is part number
988503W000 or
AMKM0139. Line up the mounting bar and the two small nubs or pegs in the center of the new wiper blade with the "C" socket and the two grooves at the end of the wiper arm. Firmly push the mounting bar in to the "C" socket and slide the pegs in to their grooves. |
||
Blade Flush With Arm |
Lower Wiper Arm To Window |
Push On Plastic Cover |
Rotate the new
wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm. For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning off the rear windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X. Gently lower the wiper arm to the rear window. Snap the plastic cover on to the base of the wiper arm. Check out
