This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the eighth generation (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Mitsubishi Lancer in changing the windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Mitsubishi vehicles such as the Mirage, Lancer Evolution ("Evo"), Outlander, 3000GT, Diamante, Eclipse, Endeavor, Galant, Montero, ASX, Triton L200 and Raider may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM wiper blades are the following sizes in inches: Driver Side 26" and Passenger Side 18".

A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers include the following: Bosch 26A & Bosch 18A, Rain-X 5079281-1 & Rain-X 5079275-1, Michelin 8526 & Michelin 8518, Anco 31-26 & Anco 31-18, ACDelco 8-4426 & ACDelco 4418 and Silblade UB126 & Silblade UB118.

Pass Hook Through Opening
The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself.

Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle.

Push in the black plastic release tab at the center of the old wiper blade against the metal wiper arm.

Slide the plastic bracket down and out of the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Continue rotating the wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm.

Pass the metal hook through the opening in the center of the old wiper blade.

Line Up New Blade & Arm
Place a towel on the windshield to protect the glass from being cracked, shattered, chipped or scratched just in case the metal wiper arm smacks down on to the window while you are replacing the blade.

I recommend buying the Bosch 26A and Bosch 18A wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

Hold the new wiper blade parallel to the metal wiper arm with the rubber blade facing out away from the car.

Lower Wiper Arm To Window
Pass the hook through the opening in the new wiper blade.

Pull the plastic bracket in the center of the new wiper blade up and in to the metal hook.

Double check that the new wiper blade is securely attached to the metal wiper arm.

Gently lower the wiper arm down to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X.
