cleaning or changing the engine air filter element. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Navara, Versa, Maxima, Juke, Rogue, Altima, Xterra, Pathfinder, Murano, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Sentra, Teana, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, G25, G37, M35, QX56, QX60 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement engine air filters with their part numbers include the following: Fram CA7440, K&N 33-2286, Spectre HPR7440, Wix 46213, Bosch 5486WS, Ecogard XA4727, ACDelco A1267C, Purolator PA44727, Champion CAP7440 and AEM 28-20286. |

Flip Up 2nd Metal Latch |
Second Fastener Released |
Lift Off Air Box Cover |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the right (driver) side of the engine
bay. The engine air filter box is located behind the driver side headlight assembly and in front of the brake fluid reservoir. Flip down the metal latch on the front right corner of the air box to release it. Then flip up the second metal latch located near the right rear corner. Gently lift off the air box cover to access the filter. |

Remove Old Air Filter |
Old Filter Removed |
Clean With Vacuum |
Pull the old air
filter out of the bottom half of the air box. Inspect both sides of the old filter. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, leaves, insects, twigs, hair, pollen, soot and other debris, it should be replaced with a new element. I recommend buying the Fram CA7440 engine air filter since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum cleaner. |

Clean Out Bottom Air Box |
Install New Air Filter |
Re-Insert 3 Tabs In Slots |
If your vacuum
cleaner has a crevice attachment, clean out any sand or debris in the bottom
of the air box. Insert the new air filter in to the bottom half of the air box with the pleats facing down and the metal wire mesh screen facing up towards you. Lower the air box cover and line up the three plastic tabs with their corresponding slots on the bottom half of the air box. Slide the tabs in to the slots and close the air box cover. |

Flip Up Front Latch |
Secure 2nd Fastener |
Engine Air Filter Replaced |
Flip up the front
latch and secure it in place over the top half of the air box. Flip the rear latch down and over the bottom half of the air box. Make sure that the two halves of the air box are flush together with no parts of the new filter visible. If you replaced the engine air filter, be sure to record it in your vehicle's service records.
