This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013) Toyota Highlander in changing the front windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Toyota or Scion vehicles such as the Tacoma, Corolla, Yaris, Prius, Camry, RAV4, Tundra, Sienna, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Avalon, 4Runner, Sequoia, xB, xD, tC, iQ and FR-S may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

Replacement blade sizes for the '08-'13 Highlander in inches are as follows: Driver Side 26" and Passenger Side 20".

A few compatible aftermarket blades with their part numbers include the following: Bosch 26A & Bosch 20A, Trico 18-260 & Trico 18-200, Anco C-26-UB & Anco C-20-UB, Bosch 26-CA & Bosch 20-CA and Rain-X 5079281-1 & Rain-X 5079277-1.

The only tool needed to change the wiper blades is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry open the locking tab.

Remove Blade From Hook
The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it stays in the raised position by itself.

Then pry open the rectangular black plastic lock tab with a small flathead screwdriver.

Insert the blade of the screwdriver in between the bottom edge of the lock tab and the top of the metal hook on the wiper arm.

Swing the hinged locking tab open from the bottom.

Rotate the old wiper blade away from the metal wiper arm at a slight angle.

Pull the plastic mounting bracket in the center of the old wiper blade down off the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Pull Bracket In To Hook
Place a towel on the windshield to protect the glass from being shattered, cracked or chipped just in case the metal wiper arm smacks down on to the window while you are replacing the blade.

I recommend buying the Bosch 26A and Bosch 20A wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

Insert the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm through the hole in the center of the new wiper blade.

Line up the plastic mounting bracket in the center of the new wiper blade with the metal hook.

Pull up on the wiper blade until the mounting bracket clicks securely in to place.

Lower Arm To Window
Rotate the new blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm.

Swing the lock tab closed and pop it back in place.

Gently lower the wiper arm to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off the windshield and apply a window treatment product such as Rain-X.
