How to replace the rear windshield wiper
blade on a 3rd generation 2006 to 2012 Toyota RAV4 with picture illustrated
steps.

This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the third generation (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012)
Toyota RAV4 in replacing the rear window wiper blade. Owners of other Toyota, Lexus and Scion SUV, hatchback, minivan or crossover vehicles such as the Matrix, Prius, Sienna, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, GX 460, RX 350, LX 570, iQ, xB, and xD may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few replacement 12" rear windshield wiper blades include the following with their part numbers: Trico 12-A, Valeo R12E, Michelin 9512, Rain-X R12A, Bosch H307 and the OEM Toyota # 85242-42030. No tools are needed to replace the rear windshield wiper blade on a '06-'12 RAV4. |

Flip Open Black Plastic Cover |
Pull Wiper Arm Off Window |
The first step is to swing open the black
plastic hinged end cap at the base of the wiper arm. It is hinged on the
right and swings open from the left side towards the spare tire. Then pull the wiper arm away from the window. |
|
Turn Blade Perpendicular |
Pop Bar Out Of Notch |
Turn the wiper blade perpendicular to the wiper
arm assembly. Gently pop the mounting bar in the center of the wiper blade out of the notch in the wiper arm. |

Wiper Blade Detached |
12" Rear Wiper Blade |
Once the old wiper blade is removed, do not
allow the wiper arm to smack against the glass.
It could possibly crack or scratch the rear windshield. I recommend buying the genuine OEM Toyota # 85242-42030 rear wiper blade since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. |
|
Line Up Bar & Notch |
Snap Blade On To Wiper Arm |
Hold the new wiper blade perpendicular to the
wiper arm with the rubber blade facing towards you. Line up the mounting bar in the middle of the new 12" rear wiper blade with the "mouth" on the end of the wiper arm. Gently pop the mounting bar on the wiper blade in to the notch on the wiper arm. |
|
Turn Blade Parallel With Arm |
Lower Blade To Window |
Rotate the new
wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm.
Lower the wiper blade down on to the rear window. |
|
Snap Arm End Cap On |
Wiper Blade Replaced |
Rotate the black
plastic cover at the base of the wiper arm closed to the left and snap it in
to place. For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the back window and applying a glass treatment product that will repel water such as Rain-X. For more,
