This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016
Toyota Yaris hatchback in changing the rear wiper blade on the back
windshield window. Owners of other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles such as the Corolla, Matrix, Prius, Camry, RAV4, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, Avalon, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, IS 250, ES 350, GS 350, tC, xB, xD, iQ and FR-S may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM 12" wiper blade is part number Toyota 85242-42030. A few other compatible 12 inch wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Trico 12-A, Michelin 9512, ANCO AR-12A, Bosch H307, Valeo R12E, ACDelco 8-212A and Denso 160-5512. No tools are needed to remove and change the rear wiper blade. |

Base Cap Opened |
Raise Wiper Arm |
The first step is
to gently swing open the hinged cover on the base of the wiper arm. Then lift the rear wiper arm off the back window until it remains in the raised position by itself. |
|
Rotate Away Old Wiper Blade |
Blade Perpendicular To Arm |
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the wiper arm. Continue rotating the old wiper blade until it is almost parallel with the wiper arm. |
|
Separate Blade & Wiper Arm |
"C" Shaped Socket |
Pop the mounting bar in the center of the old wiper blade out of the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm. | |
|
|
Mounting Bar - New Blade |
Line Up Bar & "C" Socket |
Line up the
mounting bar in the center of the new wiper blade with the "C" shaped socket
at the end of the wiper arm. The rubber blade should be pointing out away
from the car. I recommend buying the Trico 12-A rear wiper blade since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. If you prefer to have the OEM blade, the part number is Toyota 85242-42030. |
|
Insert Bar In To Socket |
Pop Bar In To Socket |
Insert the mounting
bar in to the socket with the wiper blade almost perpendicular to the wiper
arm. Rotate the new wiper blade towards the wiper arm until the bar snaps in to the socket. |
|
Rotate Blade Parallel |
Lower Blade To Window |
Continue rotating
the new wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm. Gently lower the wiper arm down to the rear window. |
|
Snap Closed Base Cap |
Rear Wiper Blade Replaced |
Swing the hinged
cover closed and snap it back in place over the base of the wiper arm. For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the back window and applying a glass treatment product that repels water such as Rain-X. For more,
