This 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix SE was my first car. Well, it was the first car that I chose. The first car that my parents gave me was a 1988 Dodge Shadow hand-me-down. Then during my junior year of high school, my father let me choose any used car within reason. I had always liked the styling of the Pontiac Grand Prix so I chose a bright red 1989 2 door SE coupe. My "new" Grand Prix had a decent ACDelco OEM stereo system and a powerful (at least to a 16 year old) 2.8 liter V6 engine. At a stoplight, I could floor the gas pedal and get a nice long squeal from the Firestone tires. Other features that I loved about this car were the electronics that had been lacking in my previous car, a Dodge Shadow. The 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix, made by General Motors, had power windows, power locks, cruise control, and a digital speedometer display. |

Another fun feature of this 1989 Pontiac
Grand Prix was the English / Metric button that let me change the display on
General Motor's digital speedometer to KM/H from MPH.
Then I'd scare my more gullible friends by telling that them that we were doing over 120 on a the highway when we were really just going 75 MPH. |
