This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the second generation (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005
& 2006) GM Chevrolet Tahoe SUV in changing the rear windshield
window wiper blade. Owners of other General Motors GMT800 series SUV or truck vehicles such as the Chevy Silverado, Suburban, Avalanche, GMC Yukon, Sierra, Hummer H2 and the Cadillac Escalade may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The back window wiper blade is 16" (inches) in size. A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Anco 31-16, Rain-X 5079274-1, Bosch 16-CA, Michelin 8516, ACDelco 8-4416, Valeo 600-16, PIAA 95040 and Trico 16-1. No tools are needed to change the wiper blade. |

Old Blade Removed |
Lift the plastic
tab near the middle of the wiper arm out of the bracket attached to the
tailgate door. Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle. Push the small black plastic release tab in towards the metal wiper arm. Slide the bracket in the center of the old wiper blade to the left and out of the metal hook. Pass the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the old blade. |

Slide New Blade In To Hook |
(Note - I'm still
waiting for the new wiper blade that I ordered online, so I just
re-installed the old one to create this guide.) I recommend buying the Anco 31-16 rear wiper blade since it has great reviews on Amazon. Pass the metal hook through the opening in the new wiper blade. Slide the mounting bracket at the center of the new blade in to the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. |

Re-Insert Tab In Bracket |

Gently re-insert
the tab on the bottom edge of the wiper arm in to the slot on the bracket
attached to the tailgate. For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the window and applying a glass treatment product that will repel water from the windshield such as Rain-X. For more, check out my other
