Rotate Old Wiper Blade
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021) Mitsubishi Outlander SUV in changing the rear wiper blade on the back windshield window.

Owners of other Mitsubishi vehicles such as the Outlander Sport, Eclipse Cross, Mirage, Mirage G4, Lancer, ASX, Montero Sport, Pajero, Xpander, Strada and RVR may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) rear wiper blade length in inches is 12".

A few compatible replacement aftermarket rear wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch H306, Michelin 9512, Motium R05, Trico 12-B, Rain-X R12B, AutoTex QFR-12B and Silblade RB112-B.

Please verify the correct part number for your Outlander by using the Amazon Part Finder website. The compatible wiper blade may vary depending on your vehicle's model year, trim level and the region of the world where it was assembled.

The first step is to gently lift the wiper blade off the back window.

Old Blade Detached
Gently rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle until you feel some resistance.

Continue carefully rotating the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm until its plastic mounting bar can be popped out of the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm.

Once the wiper blade is just about perpendicular to the arm, pull the old blade straight off.

Measuring OEM Blade
Once the old OEM wiper blade has been detached, you'll be able to see the "C" shaped socket and two indentations on the end of the wiper arm.

The wiper blade has a plastic mounting bar in the center along with two guide pegs (or "nubs") that will slide into the indentations on the wiper arm.

I measured the old wiper blade to verify that it is about 12" (twelve inches) long.

Insert Bar Into Socket
I've had excellent experiences with the Bosch brand of wiper blades, so I recommend buying the Bosch H306 12" rear wiper blade.

The Bosch H306 also has great reviews specifically from other 3rd generation Outlander owners on Amazon.

(Ignore the reviews from Outlander Sport owners who may have mistakenly thought the two Outlander SUVs are the same vehicle.)

Line up the new wiper blade with the end of the wiper arm. The rubber blade should be pointing away from the back window.

Pass the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the center of the new blade.

Insert the mounting bar into the "C" shaped socket.

The two small pegs on the wiper blade should be lined up with the indentations on the side of the wiper arm.

Blade Parallel With Arm

New Blade Installed
Rotate the new wiper blade towards the wiper arm.

You might feel and / or hear the mounting bar in the wiper blade "pop" securely into the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm.

Continue rotating the new wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm.

Gently lower the blade back down to the back window.

For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the window and applying a glass treatment product such as Rain-X that will help repel water.

Be sure to write down the blade change in your SUV's service records.
