This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the tenth generation 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Honda Civic in changing the front windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Insight, Clarity, Fit, HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, Passport, Odyssey, Ridgeline, ILX, MDX, RDX, NSX, RLX and TLX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM wiper blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 26" and Passenger Side 18".

A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers include the following: Bosch 26A & 18B, Anco 31-26 & Anco 31-18, Rain-X 5079281-2 & Rain-X 5079275-2 and PIAA 97065 & PIAA 97045.

No tools are needed to remove and replace the blades.

The first step is to gently lift the hinged wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself.

Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle.

Locate the small black plastic release tab attached to the wiper blade's mounting bracket close to the metal wiper arm.

Old Blade Removed
I recommend placing a towel on the window to protect the glass from being chipped, cracked, shattered or scratched just in case the wiper arm smacks down on to the windshield while you are replacing the blade.

Push in the small black plastic release tab towards the metal wiper arm (and away from the wiper blade).

Hold in the release tab while you slide the wiper blade down towards the windshield.

Pull the wiper blade off the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Line Up New Blade
Discard the old wiper blade.

I recommend buying the Bosch 26A and Bosch 18B wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

Orientate the new wiper blade with the rubber pointing away from the metal wiper arm.

Line up the plastic mounting bracket with the metal hook.

Lower Blade To Window
Slide the bracket up and into the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

You should hear or feel the wiper blade "click" securely into the hook.

Double check that the new wiper blade is secure.

For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off the windshield and apply a glass treatment product that will repel water such as Rain-X.

Be sure to write down the blade change in your vehicle's service records.
