This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020) Kia Sorento SUV in changing a burnt out light bulb located in the glove box.

Owners of other Kia, Hyundai and Genesis vehicles such as the Soul, Seltos, Sportage, Niro, Telluride, Forte, Rio, Optima, Stinger, Cadenza, K900, Sedona, Kona, Venue, Santa Fe, Elantra, Sonata, Accent, Veloster, Ioniq, Nexo, G70, G80 and G90 may also find these instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 2825 (also known as W5W).

If you would like to have a brighter glove box light, install a 2825 LED bulb. It will also last much longer before burning out.

The first two steps are to open the glove box and empty out the contents.

The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulb is a small flat head screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

Re-Insert Wires - Left
Push the electrical connector straight on to the base of the light housing.

You should feel or hear the power plug "click" securely into place.

The new light bulb should have turned on immediately after you pushed the power plug back into place.

If it didn't, try pressing the "Unlock" button on the key fob to re-activate the interior lights.

Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing it from the socket, rotating it 180 degrees and pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation.
