This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the "JL" fourth generation (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023) Jeep Wrangler SUV in changing a burnt out fog light bulb located in the front bumper cover.

Owners of other Jeep, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Grand Cherokee, Compass, Renegade, Gladiator, Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer, Charger, Challenger, Durango, RAM 1500, Promaster, 2500 and 3500 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) fog light bulb part number is Philips PA46-GF40 which is also known as part number PSX24W or 12276.

The tools needed to complete this procedure include 7mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet, a flat head screwdriver and a pop rivet removal tool.

Make sure the emergency / parking brake is engaged and place wheel chocks on both sides of the rear tires to help prevent the vehicle from moving.

The first two steps are to slide under the front bumper cover and locate the three metal fasteners on the wheel well liner.

There is one 7mm screw (coarse threads) and two longer 7mm bolts (finer threads).

Test New Fog Light Bulb
Be sure to pop in the center pin or "button" in the center of each pop rivet to lock them in place.

To test the new fog light bulb, turn on the headlights and activate the fog light switch.

Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try disconnecting the power plug, rotating the bulb 180 degrees and pushing the power plug back on. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation.

Don't forget to write down the bulb change in your SUV's service records.
