How to change the front windshield window
wiper blades on a 5th generation 2019 to 2023 Toyota RAV4.

This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the fifth
generation (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the updated 2023 model year) Toyota
RAV4 SUV in changing the front windshield window wiper blades. Owners of other Toyota and Lexus vehicles such as the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, Avalon, C-HR, GR86, Venza, Sienna, Sequoia, 4Runner, IS 250, IS 300, IS 350, ES 350, GS 350 and GX 460 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM wiper blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 26" and Passenger Side 16". A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers including the following: Rain-X 5079281-2 & Rain-X 5079274-2, Bosch ICON 26A & 16A, Michelin 3726 & Michelin 3716 and Trico 26" & 16". The only tool needed to remove and replace the wiper blades is either a standard flat head screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself. Locate the rectangular shaped black plastic lock tab in the center of the old wiper blade. |

Slide Wiper Blade Down |
Use the plastic pry
bar tool or a flat head screwdriver to pry open the bottom edge of the black
plastic locking tab. Swing open the lock tab towards the top of the wiper blade. Slide the plastic mounting bracket in the center of the old wiper blade down and out of the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. |

Line Up New Blade |
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the wiper arm until it is perpendicular (at a 90
degree angle) with the wiper arm. Pull the old wiper blade off the end of the wiper arm. Place a towel on the windshield to protect the window from being chipped, scratched or cracked just in case just the wiper arm smacks down on to the glass while you are changing the blade. |

Slide Blade Up Into Hook |
Line up the new
wiper blade with the end of the wiper arm. The rubber blade should be pointing out away from the windshield. Pass the metal hook through the opening in the center of the wiper blade. Rotate the wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm. Slide the mounting bracket in the center of the wiper blade up into the hook at the end of the wiper arm. |

Lower New Wiper Blade |
Swing the plastic
lock tab down towards the wiper arm. Push on the lock tab to pop it securely into place. Carefully lower the wiper blade down to the window. For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off the windshield and apply a window treatment product that will repel water from the glass such as Rain-X.
