This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the sixth generation 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the revised or "facelifted"
2023 and 2024 Nissan Altima sedan in removing the plastic interior door
panels and upgrading the OEM front door speakers. Owners of other Nissan, Infiniti or related Renault vehicles such as the Rogue, X-Trail, Note, Versa, Rogue Sport / Qashqai, Maxima, Sentra, Juke, Kicks, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Frontier, Titan, Quest, NV200, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60 and QX80 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The tools needed to complete this procedure include a small flat head screwdriver from a precision screwdriver set, a plastic pry bar tool and a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet (or a Phillips head screwdriver). The first two steps are lower the power window all the way down and fully open the door. Use a small flat head screwdriver to gently pry out the rear edge of the plastic trim piece located behind the door opener handle. |

Then pry out the

Tilt Away Top Edge |
Two Metal Wire Cables |

Tilt the top edge
of the panel away from the door frame and towards yourself. There are two metal braided wire cables that need to be detached. The upper cable operates the door lock rocker switch and the lower cable operates the door opener handle. |

Door Panel Removed |
Push in the release
tab on the white plastic electrical connector attached to the bottom of the
switch panel. I had trouble pushing in the release tab and had to use the plastic pry bar tool to release the power plug. Set the plastic door panel aside in a safe place. |
||
Metal Door Frame |
OEM Door Speaker |
Disconnect Power Plug |
The OEM speaker is
located at the front inner corner of the door frame. Push in the release tab on the white plastic power plug before pulling it straight out of the socket. |
||
Loosen Counterclockwise |
Three 10mm Bolts |
Remove OEM Speaker |
Loosen the three
bolts that hold the speaker in place by turning them in the counterclockwise
direction with a 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet. Pull the old speaker out of the door panel. The OEM speakers can be replaced with aftermarket car speakers in the following sizes: 6 3/4" and 6 1/2". I highly recommend applying some Dynamat sound deadener to the metal door frame to help stop rattles and vibrations. |
