During our
trip to Panama City, we stayed at the Country Inn & Suites located in
the Amador suburb. We crossed over the Amador Causeway several times to visit the variety of restaurants, bars, tourist attractions and shops located on the four islands. The Amador Causeway connects Panama City to the four islands or "islas" named Naos, Culebra, Perico, and Flamenco. This man made bridge was returned to Panama when the USA closed the military base in 1999. Since then, it has become a popular recreational area with many bicyclists, walkers, joggers and runners using it each day. Some of the popular attractions in this area include the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, the Fuerte Amador Resort, and the two story shopping center. |

One side of the "Calzada de Amador" has an excellent view of the downtown Panama City skyline while the other side has a view of the Bridge of the Americas. Be sure to not stop your car anywhere on the Amador Causeway as the police will quickly ask you to keep moving. | ||
