This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2017, 2018, 2019 and probably also the 2020 and 2021 model years) Chrysler Pacifica minivan in taking off the plastic interior front door panels in order to upgrade the OEM door speakers, add soundproofing material, fix a faulty electrical switch or replace a broken power window motor.

Owners of other FCA (Fiat Chrysler America) vehicles from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Charger, Challenger, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass, Renegade, Patriot, RAM 1500, RAM ProMaster City, Fiat 500 and Fiat 124 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The tools needed to remove the front door panels include a small flathead screwdriver, a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet, a plastic pry bar tool and a pair of needle nose pliers.

To remove the OEM door speaker or the power window motor, you'll need a Torx T30 star bit screwdriver.

The first two steps are to lower the power window all the way down and fully open the door.

Then use a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool to gently pry out the black plastic trim cover located behind the door opener handle and the door lock rocker switch.

Set the trim cover aside in a safe place.

Then pry out the rubber cover located at the bottom of the well in the door pull handle at the center of the armrest.

Set the rubber cover aside in a safe place.

Continue pulling out the pop rivets along the bottom and both sides of the door panel.

There are also a few pop rivets near the top edge of the door panel.

Once you feel that you have released all of the pop rivets, gently lift the plastic door panel up and off the top of the metal door frame.

Tilt the top edge of the door panel towards yourself and support the bottom with your legs.

The next steps are to disconnect the two cables for the door lock rocker switch and the door opener pull handle.

The door lock rocker switch cable is located closer to the top of the door panel and it has a white plastic collar near the end of the cable.

The door opener handle cable is located closer to the bottom of the door panel and it has a black plastic collar situated near the end of the cable.

Use a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze together the two white plastic prongs on the collar for the door lock cable.

Pull the white plastic collar out of the bracket and swing the metal cable out away from the door panel.

If any of the plastic pop rivets remained attached to the metal door frame, pull them out with a pop rivet removal tool or a flathead screwdriver.

Re-attach any pop rivets that were stuck to the door frame to the back of the plastic door panel.

The OEM front door speaker is located at the front bottom corner of the door frame.

Pull Out OEM Speaker
Remove the four screws that secure the OEM door speaker in place by turning them in the counterclockwise direction with a Torx T30 star bit screwdriver.

Set the four screws aside in a safe place.

Carefully pull out the speaker and disconnect the power plug.

The OEM door speakers can be replaced with aftermarket car speakers in the following sizes: 5 1/4" (5.25"), 6 1/2" (6.5") and 6"x9".

I highly recommend applying some Dynamat sound deadener to the metal door frame and the back side of the plastic door panel to help your speakers sound their best.

The sound deadening material will help suppress rattles and unwanted vibrations when you really crank up the volume.
