This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Dodge Dart in changing a
burnt out reverse bulb in the tail light housings. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Charger, Journey, Challenger, Durango, Grand Caravan, and Ram C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The replacement reverse light bulb part number is 7440 or W21W. They are available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA. The brake, parking and rear turn signal lights are LED bulbs that should last the lifetime of the vehicle. No tools are needed to access and replace the reverse light bulb. |

Reverse Bulb Socket |
The first two steps
are to open the trunk lid and then move to the side of the vehicle with the
burnt out reverse light bulb. Gently remove the rectangular shaped access cover on the carpeted trunk lid liner. Set the access panel aside in a safe place. |

Bulb Socket Removed |
Pull Out Old # W21W Bulb |
Rotate the base of
the reverse bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise and remove it from the
housing. Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket. |

Push In New W21W or 7440 |
Re-Insert Bulb Socket |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Push a new # W21W
or 7440 bulb straight in to the socket. I recommend buying the Sylvania 7440 LL long life light bulbs since they tend to last for many years. If you would like to have brighter reverse lights, install some compatible replacement 7440 LED bulbs. Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Re-Attach Fabric Cover |
Access Panel Replaced |
Test New Reverse Light Bulb |
Line up the access
cover and push it back in to place. Test the new light bulbs by having someone step on the brake pedal and place the transmission in reverse. For more,
