Headlight Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out low beam, high
beam, front turn signal or side marker bulb in a 2009 to 2014 Dodge Journey.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 1st generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014)
Dodge Journey SUV in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam, front
turn signal or side marker light bulb in the headlight assemblies. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles with similar headlight housings such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Grand Caravan, and Ram C/V Tradesman may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement bulbs with their part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # 9006, High Beam # 9005, Front Turn Signal # 3757A and Front Side Marker # 168. No tools are needed to change any of the bulbs in either the driver or passenger side headlight housings. |

The first two steps
are to pop open the hood and then move to the side of the SUV with the burnt
out headlight bulb. The Low Beam bulb is located near the center of the headlight assembly in the largest rectangular section of the housing. Reach in behind the headlight housing and locate the base of the low beam bulb. Pry off the power connector on the base of the low beam bulb by lifting up the release tab. |

Rotate the base of the old low beam bulb 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the housing. | ||

Push On Electrical Connector |
Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen low beam bulb with your fingers
or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with an alcohol moistened paper towel. Insert the new # 9006 low beam bulb in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

The High Beam bulb
is located at the bottom inner corner of the headlight housing. Reach in behind the headlight assembly and rotate the base of the old bulb 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. |

Install New High Beam Bulb |
Lift up the
retaining tab on the power connector with your finger or use a small
flathead screwdriver before sliding it straight off the base of the old
bulb. Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen high beam bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with an alcohol moistened paper towel. Push the power plug on to the base of a new # 9005 high beam bulb and re-insert it in to the housing. Rotate the base of the new high beam bulb 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. |

The Front Turn
Signal bulb is located at the upper inner corner of the headlight housing. Reach in behind the headlight and rotate the black plastic turn signal bulb socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. Pull the old turn signal bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new number amber colored 3757A bulb. |

Re-insert the turn signal bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. The front side marker light bulb socket is located at the outer upper corner of the headlight housing. |

Pull Out Old # 168 Bulb |
Test New Headlight Bulbs |
Reach in and rotate
and front side marker socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it
straight out of the housing. Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new number 168 bulb. (You may also use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the W5W, 194, 2825 or a compatible LED unit.) Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Test the new light bulbs by turning on the headlights, flashing the high beams, and activating the hazard signals.
