This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 1st generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Dodge Journey SUV in changing a burnt out license plate light bulb in the tail gate.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles with similar license plate light housings such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Grand Caravan, Ram C/V Tradesman and 1500 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement bulb is part number 168 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko, and PIAA. If necessary, you may also use any other miniature wedge base bulb such as the W5W, 194, 2825 or a compatible LED unit.

The only tool needed to change the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver.
