This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the "new" Type 312 (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,
2014 and 2015) Fiat 500 hatchback supermini car in changing the
front windshield window wiper blades. Owners of other Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles such as the 4C, Giulia, 200, 300, Town & Country, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Renegade, Cherokee, Patriot, 1500, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 24" and Passenger Side 14" (or 13" from some wiper brands). A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch 24A & Bosch 13A, Anco 31-24 & Anco 31-14, PIAA 95060 & PIAA 95035, Bosch 40724 & Bosch 40713 and Trico 25-240 & Trico 25-140. The only tool needed to replace the blades is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool used to pry open the locking tab. |

Gently Pry Open Tab |
Swing Up To Open |
Push Down Wiper Blade |
The first step is
to lift the wiper arm off the window until it remains in the raised position
by itself. Gently pry open the rectangular shaped black plastic locking tab at the bottom edge with a small flathead screwdriver. Swing the lock tab up to release the wiper blade mounting bracket. Push the wiper blade down to disengage the mounting bracket from the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. |
||
Rotate Blade Perpendicular |
Pass Hook Through Blade |
Towel Protect Glass |
Rotate the old
wiper blade until it is perpendicular to the wiper arm. Pass the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the center of the wiper blade. Place a towel down on the windshield to protect the window from being cracked, chipped, shattered or scratched just in case the metal wiper arm smacks down on the glass while you are replacing the blade. I recommend buying the Bosch 24A and Bosch 13A wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon. |

Line Up New Wiper Blade |
Pass Hook Through New Blade |
Pull Mount In To Hook |
Line up the new
wiper blade assembly with the rubber blade facing away from the windshield. Pass the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the new wiper blade. Rotate the wiper blade until it is almost parallel with the wiper arm. Pull the wiper blade up to secure the mounting bracket in to the metal hook. |
||
Swing Closed Lock Tab |
Snap Lock Tab In Place |
Lower Wiper To Windshield |
Swing the locking
tab closed and firmly snap in back in to place. Gently lower the wiper arm down to the windshield. For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning off the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X or Zaino Bros Glass Polish. For more,
