F150 Dome & Map Lights
Pry Off Lens At Rear Edge
This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 12th generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Ford F-150 truck in changing a burnt out overhead dome or map light bulb.

Owners of other F-Series trucks or other Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles such as the Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, Expedition, Explorer, Edge, Escape, E-150, E-250, E-350, Transit Connect, Flex, MKX, MKT, Navigator and Mountaineer may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

This 2013 F-150 is equipped with three # 578 "festoon" or "fuse" style light bulbs in the overhead light housing.

Depending on your model year, the dome or map lights may instead be # 6411 (festoon), # 906 (wedge base) or # 194(miniature wedge base).

The only tool required to remove the lens cover and change the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

Lens Cover Removed
2 Map Lights & 1 Dome
Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch on the rear edge of the dome/map light lens cover.

Gently pry off the translucent lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

Behind the lens cover, you'll see the dome light bulb in the center and the two map light bulbs on either side of the housing.

Pull Out Old Light Bulb
Map Light Bulb Socket

Grasp the burnt out bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Line Up Dome Lens Cover
If your old bulb looks like the one pictured above, push in a new # 578 festoon style bulb straight in to the socket.

Depending on your truck's model year, the dome and/or map lights may instead be # 6411 festoon, # 906 wedge base or # 194 miniature wedge base bulbs.

Snap Lens Cover In Place
Testing New Map Light Bulb
Test the new map light bulbs by activating their rocker switches. Test the new map light bulb by opening one of the passenger doors.

Line up the lens cover and gently snap it back in to place.
