This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the updated fifth generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Ford Mustang in changing worn out windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of the earlier 5th generation Mustang from 2005 to 2009 and possibly the 4th generation 1994 to 2004 models with similar wiper arm assemblies may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The wiper blade sizes in inches for the 2005 to 2014 Mustang are: Driver Side 22" and Passenger Side 20".

(The 1994 to 2004 model years have 20" wiper blades on both the driver and passenger sides.)

A few compatible wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Michelin 8522 & Michelin 8520, Rain-X 5079279-1 & Rain-X 5079277-1, Bosch 22OE & Bosch 20OE, Trico 19-220 & Trico 18-200, Anco A-22-M & Anco A-20-M, and ACDelco 8-992213 & ACDelco 8-992013.

Lift Out Mounting Bracket
Raise the wiper arm off the windshield until it stays in place at a perpendicular position to the window.

Rotate the wiper blade away from the wiper arm and locate the two black plastic tabs or "wings" that end in a sharp point.

Squeeze together the two tabs to release the wiper blade mounting bracket from the metal wiper arm.

New Wiper Blade Bracket
Lift the wiper blade up and off the hook at the end of the metal wiper arm.

Place a towel on the windshield to protect the window just in case the wiper arm smacks down on the glass, which may cause it to chip or crack.

I usually buy the Bosch 22OE and Bosch 20OE wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

Clean Windshield
Insert the tabs in to the metal wiper arm and rotate the new blade parallel against the wiper arm.

Make sure that the new wiper blade is securely attached to the wiper arm.

Gently lower the wiper arm down to to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off your windshield and apply a window treatment product such as Rain-X.
