Chevy Aveo Trunk Light
Pry Out Light Housing
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the revised first generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011) GM Chevrolet Aveo sedan in changing a burnt out cargo area light bulb located in the trunk.

Owners of other General Motors vehicles such as the Buick Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Cascada, Encore, Enclave, Envision, GMC Canyon, Sierra 1500, Terrain, Yukon, Denali, Savana, Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, Impala, Volt, Camaro, Corvette, SS, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, Silverado and Express may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement festoon or "fuse" style light bulb is part number 6461 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

If you would like to have a brighter trunk light, install a compatible 6461 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to access and replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool used to pry out the light housing.

Remove Light Assembly
Pull Back Electrical Contact
Insert the blade of your small flathead screwdriver in to the notch on the left (driver) side of the bulb housing.

Gently pry out the light housing and remove it from the metal panel.

Pull back the metal electrical contact before removing the old light bulb from the socket.

Pull Out Old Bulb

Tip - If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try pulling the old bulb out of the socket, flipping it around and re-installing it.

Empty Bulb Socket
Insert New # 6461 Bulb
Insert a new # 6461 festoon style bulb in to the socket.
Re-Insert Bulb Housing

Re-insert the wires first and the passenger side of the housing.

Then gently pop in the left side of the housing to secure it in place.

Test the new trunk light bulb by closing and opening the trunk.
