Pry Out Lens Cover
This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & possibly the 2015) GM Chevrolet Cruze in replacing a burnt out map light or front dome light bulb in the overhead console.

Owners of other General Motors vehicles such as the Spark, Sonic, Volt, Malibu, Camaro, Corvette, Impala, Equinox, Traverse, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche, Colorado, Silverado, Express, Cadillac ATS, XTS, CTS, SRX, Escalade, Buick Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Encore, GMC Sierra, Terrain, Acadia, Yukon and Savana may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement map light bulb is part number 2825 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

You may also use any other miniature wedge base bulb such as the # 168, 175, 194, W5W or a compatible LED unit.

The only tool needed to change any of the three bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool used to pry out the lens cover.

Pull Out Lens Cover
To avoid scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of the flathead screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the translucent plastic lens cover and the overhead console.

Gently pry out the lens cover. You may need to re-insert the blade of the screwdriver at the other end of the lens cover to remove it entirely.

Do not use excessive force to pry out the lens cover. It should pop out relatively easily.

Grasp the burnt out bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.
