This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 2nd generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013) Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in replacing the windshield wiper blades.

Owners of other General Motors vehicles such as the GMC Sierra, Terrain, Acadia, Yukon, Savana, Chevy Colorado, Avalanche, Express, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Volt, Malibu, Impala, SS, Camaro, Corvette, Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Encore, and Enclave may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

Both the driver and passenger side wiper blades are 22 inches in size. No tools are needed to change the wipers.

A few compatible 22" wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch 22-CA, Michelin 8522, Rain-X 5079279, PIAA 97055, Valeo TL2-22, Motorcraft WW-2201-PF, Bosch 22OE, Trico 25-220 and Anco C-22-OE.

Rotate Wiper Blade Off

The first two steps are to raise up the wiper arm blade and place a towel on the windshield.

Placing a towel on the windshield is a good preventative measure just in case the wiper arm smacks down on the window.

Rotate the wiper blade away from the wiper arm and locate the two triangle shaped arms or "prongs" on the wiper blade mount.

Squeeze together the two prongs and lift them out of the wiper arm bracket.

Line Up Top Tab & Slot
Rotate the wiper blade away from and off the tip of the wiper arm.

I usually buy the Bosch 22-CA wiper blades since they have great reviews on Amazon.

Line up the slot on the top of the new 22" wiper blade with the small metal hook at the tip of the wiper arm.

Insert the hook in to the slot and rotate the wiper blade towards the wiper arm to lock them together.

Then squeeze together the two black plastic prongs on the wiper blade and insert them in to the wiper arm bracket.

Double check that the new wiper blade is securely installed before gently lowering it down to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X.
