This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012,
2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) GMC Acadia in changing the front
windshield window wiper blades. Owners of other General Motors vehicles such as the Buick Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Cascada, Encore, Enclave, Envision, GMC Canyon, Sierra 1500, Terrain, Yukon, Denali, Savana, Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, Impala, Volt, Camaro, Corvette, SS, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, Silverado and Express may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 24" and Passenger Side 21". A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch 24-CA & Bosch 21-CA, Rain-X 5079280-1 & Rain-X 5079278-1, Michelin 8524 & Michelin 8521, Trico 25-240 & Trico 25-210, Bosch 4842 & Bosch 4840 and Anco C-24-OE & Anco C-21-OE. |

Rotate Old Blade Away |
Squeeze Together Tabs |
The first step is
to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised
position by itself. Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle. Locate the two black plastic tabs that resemble insect wings. Gently squeeze together the two tabs towards each other to release the old wiper blade's mounting bracket. |
|
Mounting Bracket Released |
Rotate Old Blade Off Hook |
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the metal wiper arm to disengage the mounting bracket. Continue rotating the old wiper blade until you can lift it off the small metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. |

Towel - Protect Glass |
Metal Hook - Wiper Arm |
Place a towel on
the windshield to protect the glass from being shattered, chipped, cracked
or scratched just in case the wiper arm smacks down on to the window while
you are replacing the wiper blade. I usually buy the Bosch 24-CA and Bosch 21-CA wiper blades since they have great reviews on Amazon. |

Line Up Hook & New Blade |
Insert Hook In To Opening |
Line up the slot in
the new wiper blade with the small metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. Insert the hook in to the slot and rotate the new wiper blade towards the wiper arm. |
|
Squeeze Two Tabs |
New Blade Attached |
Pinch together the
two black plastic tabs and rotate the blade towards the wiper arm to
re-attach them to the bracket. Make sure that the new wiper blade is securely attached to the wiper arm. |
|
Lower Wiper To Windshield |
New Wiper Blade Installed |
Gently lower the
wiper arm down to the windshield. For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning off the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X or Zaino Bros Glass Polish. For more, check out my other
