This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the eighth generation (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012) Honda Accord change a burnt out overhead dome light bulb.

Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Civic, CR-V, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, FCX Clarity, ILX, TSX, TL, RLX, RDX, MDX and ZDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement dome light bulb for the '08-'12 Accord 4 door sedan or 2 door coupe is part # DE3175 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko, Philips and Eiko.

If you would like to have a brighter dome light, choose a compatible DE3175 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to access the dome light bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

You may also want to use a thin cloth to protect the plastic surfaces from being scratched.

Insert the blade of the flathead screwdriver in between the rear edge of the translucent lens cover and the dome light housing.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, wrap the blade of the flathead screwdriver with a thin material such as a micro fiber cloth.

Gently pry out the lens cover. You may need to re-insert the blade of the flathead screwdriver in several positions to loosen the cover. Do not use excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily.

Grasp the old dome light bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Push a new # DE3175 festoon or "fuse" style bulb straight in to the socket.

If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around in the socket.

Slide the switch over to the "On" position to test the new bulb.
