This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 2nd generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Hyundai Tucson SUV in changing a burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console.

Owners of other Hyundai and Kia vehicles such as the Accent, Elantra, Sonata, Azera, Veloster, Tiburon, Genesis, Lavita, Veracruz, Santa Fe, ix35, Equus, Cadenza, Forte, Optima, Rio, Soul, Sedona, Sorento, Spectra and Sportage may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM map light bulbs are Toshiba part # W10W or Hyundai / Kia part number 1864310009N or 18643-10009-N. They can be purchased at your local dealership.

You may also be able to use other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the Satco S4553, 912, 168, 194, 2825, W5W or an LED.

The only tool needed to replace the map light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool used to pry out the translucent plastic lens cover.

Pull Out Old Bulb
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Carefully insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the lens cover and the overhead console near the inner edge.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

If the old bulb was recently illuminated, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Push Button - Test Bulb
Push a new Toshiba W10W bulb (Kia / Hyundai part number 1864310009N or 18643-10009-N) straight in to the socket.

The best option if you want to avoid a trip to the dealership is the Satco S4553 which is an 11 watt miniature wedge base bulb. So it will be just a tiny bit brighter than the 10 watt OEM bulb.

If necessary, you might be able to use one of the smaller and dimmer miniature wedge base bulbs such as the # 912, 168, 158, 194, W5W or 2825.

Test the new map light bulb by pressing in the clear plastic "On/Off" button.

Testing Map Lights
Re-insert the plastic tabs on the outer edge of the lens cover in to the housing first and then gently snap in the clips on the inner edge.

Set the "On / Door / Off" rocker switch to the "Door" position so that the map lights will turn on when ever a passenger door is opened.
