How to change a burnt out low beam, high
beam, front turn signal or side marker bulb in a 2012 to 2017 Veloster.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and
2017) Hyundai Veloster in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam,
front turn signal or side marker light bulb in the headlight
assemblies. Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Elantra, Sonata, Azera, Santa Fe, Tucson, Accent, Ioniq, Genesis, Tiburon, ix20, i20, i30, i40, Veracruz, Optima, Cadenza, K900, Soul, Niro, Sportage, Sorento, Sedona, Rio, Forte and Spectra may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H7, High Beam # H7, Front Turn Signal # 1156A (or 1156NA) and Side Marker # 2825 (or W5W). No tools are needed to access and replace the light bulbs in either the driver side or passenger side headlight housings. |

Twist Off Counterclockwise |

Low Beam Bulb Exposed |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt
out headlight bulb. The low beam light bulb is located near the center of the headlight housing. Reach in behind the headlight assembly and twist off the black plastic dust cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Set the dust cap aside in a safe place. |

Pull Out Light Bulb & Socket |
Separate Bulb & Socket |
Rotate the base of
the low beam bulb and the electrical connector 1/4 turn counterclockwise
before pulling it straight out of the housing. Gently pull the black plastic power plug off the old low beam light bulb. |

Empty Bulb Housing |
Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen light bulb with your fingers or
anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. |

Push On New Light Bulb |
New Bulb Attached |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Push the new number
H7 low beam headlight bulb on to
the electrical connector. Install the new low beam light bulb in to the headlight housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Line Up Dust Cover |
1/4 Turn Clockwise |
High Beam - Near Center |
Line up the dust
cap over the low beam bulb housing and replace it by rotating it 1/4 turn
clockwise. The high beam headlight bulb is located near the middle of the housing closer to the inner edge. |

Black Plastic Dust Cover |
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Dust Cap Removed |
Remove the round
black plastic dust cover by turning it 1/4 turn counterclockwise before
pulling it off. Set the dust cover aside in a safe place. |

High Beam Bulb Exposed |
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
High Beam Removed |
Rotate the black plastic electrical connector and the old high beam bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling them straight out of the headlight housing. | ||

Pull Bulb Off Power Plug |
Empty Bulb Housing |
Push On New Bulb |
Carefully separate
the black plastic electrical connector from the old high beam light bulb. Avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen light bulb with your fingers. Push the power plug on to the electrical contacts on the base of the new high beam light bulb. |

Replace Dust Cap |
Turn Signal - Inner Corner |
Install the new
high beam light bulb in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to
secure it in place. Replace the plastic dust cover by twisting it on in the clockwise direction. The front turn signal light bulb is located near the inner corner of the headlight housing. |

Turn Signal Bulb Socket |

Bulb Socket Removed |
Rotate the grey plastic turn signal bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. | ||
Remove Old Light Bulb |
Install New Light Bulb |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Push the old light
bulb down in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn counterclockwise before
pulling it straight out of the socket. Push a new amber colored number 1156A (or 1156NA) light bulb down in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Re-insert the turn signal bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Side Marker - Outer Corner |

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
The front side
marker light bulb is located near the outer edge of the housing. Reach in and rotate the small grey plastic bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. |

Bulb Socket Removed |
Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
Push In New Light Bulb |
Pull the old light
bulb straight out of the socket. Push a new number 2825 miniature wedge base bulb straight in to the socket. (If you would like to have brighter side marker lights, there are 2825 LED bulbs available.) |

Test New Headlight Bulbs |
Testing High Beam Bulb |
Re-insert the side
marker bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to
secure it in place. To test the new light bulbs, turn on the headlights, activate the hazard signals and flash the high beams. Be sure to record the headlight bulb change in your car's service records. For more,
