This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020) Infiniti QX60 luxury SUV in changing a burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console or upgrading them both to brighter LED units.

Owners of other Infiniti and Nissan vehicles such as the JX35, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX80, Pathfinder, Murano, Rogue, Armada, Kicks, Frontier, Titan, NV, NV200, 370Z, GT-R, Leaf, Maxima, Altima, Sentra and Versa might also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM map light bulb in this 2020 QX60 was marked as part number Toshiba A12V8W K 9E.

The genuine Infiniti or Nissan part number for the map light bulb is 26232-F1100 (also known as 26232F1100 or 26232 F1100).

If you would like to have brighter map lights that will also last much longer before burning out, I've read on the Infiniti forums that the BA9S LED bulbs should work.

Be sure to buy an LED bulb that is not "polarity sensitive" since the QX60's map light bulb sockets are supposedly wired in reverse polarity. The LED light bulbs that are polarity sensitive may not work in the socket.

The only tool needed to access and replace the bulbs is a plastic pry bar tool or a small flat head screwdriver.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you can either use a plastic pry bar tool or cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Do NOT pry at the front edge of the lens cover close to the windshield. There is a plastic tab on the narrow side of the lens cover by the front of the car that can be broken if you pry there.

Insert the blade of the pry bar tool in between the translucent plastic lens cover and the overhead console near the rear edge close to the "On", "Off" and "Door" buttons.

Gently pry out the lens cover. You may need to remove and re-insert the pry bar tool along the side of the lens cover to fully remove it.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily.

Once you have released the retaining clips at the rear and side of the lens cover, pull the straight tab on the front edge (near the windshield) out of its slot.

Set the lens cover aside in a safe place.

If the old light bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it. The bulb might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Gently push the old bulb into the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it straight out.

The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) light bulb was marked as part number Toshiba A12V8W K 9E.

The genuine Nissan and Infiniti part number for the bayonet base style light bulbs is 26232-F1100.

I've read that other Infiniti owners have had success installed BA9S LED bulbs in the map light housings.

Be sure to buy LED bulbs that are not polarity sensitive to make sure they will work.

If you do buy polarity sensitive bulbs, you may need to re-wire the socket by swapping the "+" positive and "-" negative wires in order for them to work. Proceed with this at your own risk. I have not done it myself.

Line up the lens cover with the light housing.

Insert the straight tab on the front edge (close to the windshield) into its slot on the light housing.

Test New Light Bulbs
Gently push on the lens cover to secure the retaining clips.

You should hear or feel the retaining clips "click" securely into place.

To test the new map light bulbs, press the "On / Off" buttons.

I recommend pushing the "Door" button so that the map lights will illuminate any time you open the driver door or a passenger door.

Be sure to write down the bulb change in your vehicle's service records.
